Before the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the ceded lands question, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) is lobbying the state legislature to pass a bill that would codify the state Supreme Court ruling. The ruling forbids the sale of 1.2 million acres of land. This maneuver may help OHA’s case at the U.S. Supreme Court, since the ban would be supported by both the judicial and legislative branches of the state.
