2007 Coldwell Banker® Home Price Comparison Index (HPCI) shows the the top 10 most expensive and most affordable surveyed U.S. markets overall in 2007, and the most expensive and most affordable surveyed U.S. markets within each state in 2007.
In Hawaii's housing markets, Kihei, Maui, had the highest average sales price of $963,000, and Honolulu had the lowest average sales price of $843,750.
The top then most expensive U.S. home markets are: Beverly Hills, Calif. ($2,206,883); Greenwich, Conn. ($2,018,750); La Jolla, Calif. ($1,800,000); Santa Monica, Calif. ($1,785,000); Palo Alto, Calif. ($1,677,000); Newport Beach, Calif. ($1,617,500); Santa Barbara, Calif. ($1,599,667); San Mateo, Calif. ($1,498,023); San Francisco, Calif. ($1,451,250); and Boston, Mass. ($1,381,250).
If Hawaii prices get you down, here's the 10 most affordable housing markets: Killeen, Texas ($136,725); Minot, N.D. ($139,033); Arlington, Texas ($139,175); Canton, Ohio ($146,333); Muncie, Ind. ($150,000); Topeka, Kan. ($150,075); Fort Worth, Texas ($151,250); Tulsa, Okla. ($153,750); Grayling, Mich. ($155,000); and Wichita, Kansas ($156,500).
