Advocates are lobbying the Maui County Council to consider amending the County's building code to provide for a “lifespan housing policy.” The amended code would make accessibility a requirement for all new homes in the County; e.g., wider doors, lower counters, larger showers, etc. Advocates appear to be in the early public relations phase of their campaign, but a proposed bill could be following shortly.
